The Suwanee Reconstruction of the Month:
February 2006

Full Reconstruction with K-7 Neuromuscular Diagnosis

Scott Sheridan before his complete
neuromuscular reconstruction

Outstanding Results:

"I had TMJ headaches for a long time. Now I am so much better and my teeth look great as an added benefit, thanks to Dr. Williams"

Scott  before his K-7 Neuromuscular Diagnosis and Wolceram Porcelain Makeover showing bite collapse, altered plane of occlusion, and severely worn lower front teeth.

Scott had his full reconstruction completed in just two main visits, The first for preparation and the second for delivering his crowns. He primarily chose to do his full makeover to treat his over-closed bite which was instrumental in causing his TMJ headaches and facial pain.

The restoration of the lost vertical height is obvious. Because Scott was diagnosed with the K-7 Neuromuscular system, we have confidence that the new bite will be comfortable, durable and stable. He had worn a neuromuscular therapeutic bite appliance to test his new bite prior to moving to the more permanent porcelain crown makeover..

Worn teeth in a bruxer and grinder can lead to continuous shortening of natural enamel. Scott needed the posterior support in the back of his mouth to take the excess forces off of the lower front teeth.

The wear of the teeth is cumulative and progressive. As the protective guidance is lost, the forces placed on the teeth increase and the muscles of the head and neck begin to be in spasm more and more, leading to headaches and facial pain.

To avoid further tooth and TMJ injury, Scott will still need to wear a professionally made dual laminate protective night guard. This distributes the heavy forces and protects his new crowns and his TMJ.

Now the canines are properly shaped to protect the teeth in lateral excursions. This protection is planned and causes the clenching muscles of the jaw to "turn off" and relax.

When the canine and anterior guidance of the bite is properly crafted, the patient will experience less pain, less muscle spasm and more longevity of the porcelain reconstruction.

Lower teeth: strong and beautiful

Scott says, "No sweat, it was a piece of cake! I never had white teeth and when I finally got the opportunity, I was really happy to get rid of the dark color of my teeth."

"Getting all my work done for the makeover in just one appointment was the way to go."

Great Smile - Great Bite

"Results like this don't come by guessing, they come with scientific measurements and a thorough understanding of the K-7 instrumentation's strengths and weaknesses."
